The Youtube program named "Dekanlık Söyleşileri" (Dean's Talks) within the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture has started broadcasting. The program, produced by Professor Ali Tan, Ph.D., and directed by Lecturer Görkem Katmer, includes education, history, art, architecture, urban, environment, landscape, ecology and various other topics.
In this episode of the program, Ayşegül Can Ph.D., lecturer at İstanbul Medeniyet University Department of City and Regional Planning, held an interview about urban mobility, urban cycling and its place and importance in sustainable transportation with graduate engineer Barkın Dalmaz, who completed his undergraduate degree in ITU Environmental Engineering and his master's degree in ITU and Gothenburg Chalmers University Transportation Engineering.
It was discussed how the use of urban bicycles is not only liberating, healthy and environmentally friendly for the citizens of the city, but also how necessary it is to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, which are becoming increasingly important in the world. In addition, potential solutions were presented on the problems that can be encountered in the creation and promotion of bicycle infrastructure in a crowded city like Istanbul, which has a very complicated transportation.
